Givers Meet Receivers at the Kickoff
We kicked off the season with a meeting between our county's
"givers" and "receivers (see
details), and handed out prizes to
discussion groups provided by our hospitality sponsors (see
below). Fifteen groups registered for prizes, and many other
groups met to discuss the book.

Above, "Giver" Ilene Glenn talked to "Receiver" Mary Jane Tetzlaff,
while Steven Herb of the Pennsylvania Centre for the Book
recorded the conversation. See more pictures from the
Kickoff or read the
Centre Daily Times article.
Lois Lowry Talk and Signing
The climax was Lois Lowry's visit to the county. Over 500
people came to State College High School to hear her speak, and
many lined up to have her sign her books.

Above, Lois Lowry signs books for a family after the talk.
